Reward Music: The Power of Email and Email List

The power of email and email lists.

It's all about your permission base. Those who CHOOSE to be a part of your journey as a musician, and not just an Instagram "like", or a Spotify stream.
What really matters (and where you should devote the most attention) are to those handful of true, passionate fans who choose to sign up and give you permission to talk to them.

The ones that will signup to your website, buy merchandise, go to your shows, etc...not just click a button once, but actually do something.   Because, let's be honest with ourselves, what does social media REALLY get you?
And it's way more practical to serve to a small group of a few hundred, or a few thousand, than in this social media world where we're told you need millions of people to hop on board to maybe make a living. Spoil your permission base, and they'll spoil you back.

We want to show you first hand from a fellow Reward Music artist who communicates directly via email with every member of his website consistently and wholeheartedly. Our very own Bobby Rock. Drummer for Lita Ford, Nelson, Vinnie Vincent, etc...as well as a renowned health expert, educator and author of 9 books.

When they sign up, Bobby's members are automatically added to his "Newsletter" email list.

He has been doing this consecutively 68 weeks in a row now, and lets look at the data..

Why this works?

  • Sharing - Bobby sends content to his fans, who then share it with their friends.
  • Exclusivity- it only lives on his website. Those of us who are Bobby Rock fans can't find it by going anywhere else. Period. Enough said.
  • Permission base- Bobby can count on these people being regular readers and not unsubscribing because THEY'RE choosing to sign up to his website. And it's not hard to do so (just an email and password). Remember, we all love to buy things and we all hate being sold to,
  • Consistency- his members know they can count on it every. single. week.
  • Direct communication- These are his own personal stories from tour, life, and past experiences that he only talks about in his newsletter. Then his people get to read it from the comfort of their own homes. Where it feels like they're connecting with him almost in a one on one way.

It's been a joy watching this newsletter grow and grow (and just to read it every week...speaking personally)

Data point.

EVERY artist that sent email to their fans in 2021 had a better than average revenue per fan yield.  EVERY artists that didn't email their fans in 2021 had a below average revenue yield.

If you want to check it out for yourself sign up to bobbyrock.com and get them every Saturday!
