I saw on discogs a while back that you had put out version of The Gumbo Variations (one of my all time favorites) last year, and I recently found your website, so I bought that track. I loved it and it sounded great, but part of me was bummed it wasn't 20 minutes long (or 30 like the Big Legs version). I've been a huge fan of yours and your dad's for decades, and I've always been partial to the extended jams. When I saw you put out another version with this collection, I just got it and I was actually able to mash up the two in a similar fashion to what Frank did with King Kong on YCDTOSA Vol.3. Now I have a Dweezil Gumbo track with an extra long sax solo, a violin solo, and a guitar solo that clocks in at just over 18 minutes. This might not mean much to you or anyone else, but I really felt like sharing, because I can't stop listening to it. Thank you so much for continuing to put out records, and I look forward to getting the new album on the 30th. Much Love. SRM

Hi Spencer,

It sounds like you're afflicted with the dreaded HTFS - High Tolerance For Solos! LOL! I'm glad you're enjoying the track(s). I'm constantly adding new tracks to the website so I'll look for some extended solo options for you. I was thinking of doing a project where I take a collection of solos and improvisational happenings and put them inside a single song, for example - KING KONG. I have many versions with all sorts of band solos and guest solos from people like Chick Corea. 1 single track that could be edited together to become an hour long version. Might be a fun experiment.

I was blessed enough to see you guys with Chick Corea (RIP) in Boston back in 2011, so I would certainly love to hear a track featuring his unreal improvisations... and if it were an hour long, all the more amazing :-)

Hey Dweezil, I recently listened to an episode of Lizzy Goodman's podcast, Difficult Artists, and Trent Reznor was the guest. Toward the last ten minutes of the episode, Reznor goes into how your Dad's music really inspired him, both growing up, and through the pandemic!

Nice!

Imaginary Diseases is definitely a new favorite. Thank you for the music, Dweezil!

Dweezil

Glad you're enjoying it Michael!

Thanks Dweezil from Houston.  Black Napkins is great.  Very lyrical.  Hope to see you soon live or in some special live proprietary digital format.  Keep busy, keep focused, keep up the good work.

Thanks for a lot of great music.  Could it also be a bug on the Muffin Man file.  Last guitar solo missing??

Dweezil

I’ll check!

Dweezil

The file is correct. There's a fade-out on the end of the track, no abrupt ending.

Thank you for checking!  And thank you for playing and giving us all these fantastic live music!!! :-)
